S1 Drama Workshop - Hope
The problems with bullying are endless for many young people across the world. To raise awareness of this, all S1 pupils at Monifieth High School have been shown a well preformed drama, entitled ‘Hope’.  It is the leading Anti-Bullying Production in the UK which has been performed and perfected by the Take Away Theatre Company.  The play was expertly delivered, was entertaining and most importantly was thought provoking.  ‘Hope’ was a drama that outlined the issues of bullying and what it caused.  This includes the emotional distress it can cause someone and the effects it can have on their health.  The story focused on a victim of bullying who became a famous and successful pop star.  It highlighted the courage and self-empowerment felt by the victim as the now pop star meets her past bully by an ill-fated chance.  And throughout the play, it taught the audience the value of respect, equality, fairness and how to respond to peer pressure.  Overall the S1s found it deeply enjoyable and a worthwhile interactive experience.
