Head Teacher Introduction
Staff and pupils returned to Monifieth High School last week after a pleasant summer break to be welcomed by a new Head Teacher.  Former Rector, Mr R. Coton retired in June after many years at the school.  During his time at Monifieth High School, many achievements and much success had been celebrated.  New Head Teacher, Mrs M-C McInally, who was formerly a depute head teacher at Webster’s High School, is keen to build on this good reputation and continue the hard work that has been completed over the past few years.

All parents received a letter of introduction from Mrs McInally last week noting her pride in becoming Head Teacher of such a notable school.  In her letter, Mrs McInally highlighted three areas which are of interest to her and will become priorities within the school:  Attainment is a high priority.  The school must aim for every young person to develop their potential both academically and in other fields of endeavour.  Secondly, the school is not simply about pupils and teachers.  The whole school community plays a hugely important role in the education of our young people.  Mrs McInally is looking forward working with parents and the wider community to make Monifieth High school more successful.  Health is the third area of great importance.  Mrs McInally is a supporter of the ‘healthy mind, healthy body’ philosophy.  As Scotland does not have a good health record, she will endeavour to do all she can to assist pupils with maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally.

Session 2013/14 will see a variety of changes and developments, including the first diet of National exams which are replacing Standard Grade.  Mrs McInally looks forward to the support of parents, pupils, staff and other agencies over the coming months and looks forward to meeting the parental community.
